I used to judge cover songs in a bad way. I never wanted to play covers and it still takes a great interpretation of an already great song to keep my attention. I recently received a great CD of cover songs that's changing my opinion about covering songs. This CD is a compilation of famous soul and R&B songs done by not so famous musicians. They aren't trying to reinvent the songs. Instead, they're having contagious fun playing these classic songs and after hearing their fun, I'm right there with them! A cover song can be good if you mean it and don't try too hard.
